No where else in the world can you find the range of disciplines in one school. Over the last 50 years as we forged new programs, built our home in New York and expanded to our global academic centers, institutes emerged. Each are built with shared values, common goals, and a priority for putting students first. The result – a place where artists and scholars create the future.
A few weeks ago, the Game Design department at Tisch cancelled all classes for two full days and held a teach-in about race and the game industry for our students, staff, and faculty. This session will be a look back at what we did, how we did it, and why. We’ll be sharing some of our approaches for structuring presentations and discussions about difficult topics, with the idea of providing a model for other departments and programs that might want to undertake something similar. Any students, staff, and faculty who are interested in putting together events around racial justice are welcome and encouraged to attend.
This session will take place on Zoom and is only open to NYU faculty, administrators, students, and alumni.
