Sophie Seyd is a British-Australian writer, director, cinematographer, and producer of Iraqi heritage. She was born in Hong Kong and raised in Melbourne. She now lives in New York City where she is a candidate of the Graduate Film program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She is the recipient of scholarships from BAFTA, Screen Australia, the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, Willard TC Johnson fellowship, and the American Australian Association. Sophie did her BA in Literary Studies and first started working as a researcher and writer in documentary. She then relocated to London where she cut her teeth in post-production, working on drama series for Sister Pictures, AMC, Apple TV and Amazon Prime. She will have two films, as producer and DP, premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
