Tisch Drama Presents the New York Premiere of "Blue Stockings"

Tuesday, Nov 10, 2015

On Thursday, November 12th, Tisch Drama StageWorks opened the New York premiere of Blue Stockings, a period piece set during the politically charged early years of women's suffrage.

It's 1896 and the University of Cambridge's Girton College has become Britain’s first to enroll women. Blue Stockings follows four “Girton Girls” studying to be scientists while battling a culture and system filled with often-hostile male peers and faculty.

Directed by Tony Award-nominee Michele Shay and written by Jessica Swale, Blue Stockings captures the emotional and intellectual exhilaration of being part of an emerging movement, as well as the personal and professional costs of daring to demand change.
