Tisch Dance Arts Professor, cari ann shim sham*, continues to share her passion of experimental movement into the world of technology with “Hello Chelsea” // Techspressionism 2025, an exhibition curated by Tommy Mintz now open to view at the Hudson Guild Gallery running from April 30th, 2025 through June 25th, 2025. A multidisciplinary artist known for her innovative use of technology in her creative practice, cari ann shim sham*’s work explores the intersectionality of technology, healing, artistic expression, and the body as a site of expression.

The exhibition will feature a diverse collection of cari ann’s recent and ongoing projects, including a preview of "~ body waves ~ 60 smoked, 2025," which is part of her new project, "~ body waves ~."  The project uses AI TouchDewsigner, Luma, and Stable Diffusion to create moving image self-portraits designed for “glazing, meditation, and internal movement towards healing.” As she explains it, “to glitch the body into moving structures that beckon, mesmerize, and capture one’s attention.” In this self-portrait initiative, the body transcends its representational form, becoming a vessel for emotional expression that communicates through non-verbal expression.

In addition to this preview, the exhibition will also present her film “body landscapes,”self portraits reflecting on the artists' emotional experiences of going through breast cancer during the pandemic, and "black and white: a man ray redux" v1, her cyber feminist work that critiques Manray, male gaze and the surrealist history.

"Hello Chelsea!” // Techspressionism 2025 is set to provide a compelling look at cari ann shim sham*'s pioneering work within the Techspressionist movement, offering a glimpse into her explorations of the body, technology, and cyber feminism.
