Tisch Dance Summer High School Program

Summer Dance Program

Summer Dance Program

This July Tisch Dance was thrilled to welcome our first class of the Tisch Summer High School program! Students from across the country applied to the four-week residency and sixteen were chosen to participate in a rigorous schedule of daily technique, composition, and repertory courses - led by summer program director Elizabeth Coker.  Along with boarding on campus at Washington Square, students’ experiences attending dance, theater, and interactive technology performances throughout the city provided some of the highlights of NYU undergraduate life. Students created site-specific studies throughout the month with teacher and choreographer Joy Kellman.  Students collaborated on short films of their site specific works with Paul Galando, director of Dance and New Media at Tisch Dance, who also taught a Dance for the Camera workshop.  Special workshops for this summer also included in-depth master classes with onsite physical therapist Andrea Zujko and improvisation teaching artist Diana Crum. The summer culminated in a works-in-process showing for faculty, family, and friends celebrating the impressive strides made by our first summer class.
