Policies & Procedures

Members of the NYU Tisch community are responsible for adhering to NYU's IT Policies.

To ensure compliance with university policies regarding computer use, data, and cybersecurity, all Tisch faculty and staff should review and become familiar with the policies and guidelines below. In particular, please review the Policy on Responsible Use of NYU Computers & Data. A comprehensive listing of all NYU IT Policies can be found on the NYU website.

NYU IT Policies

Code of Conduct: IT

The Code of Conduct: IT@NYU applies to all covered individuals, including student employees, as well as to all others who work in information technology and related areas at NYU as contractors, temporary staff, visitors, or in any other capacity, on a full-time or part-time basis; it does not form a contract. Failure on anyone’s part to comply with these standards may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal, as well as referral, as appropriate, to authorities for legal action. NYU IT reserves the right to amend this Code of Conduct: IT@NYU at any time and without notice, in its sole, good faith, discretion.

Appropriate Use of Email at New York University

This policy statement conveys key requirements for the appropriate use of email at New York University. NYU provides central email services (hereafter called “NYU Email”) to members of the University community for purposes of furthering its educational mission and conducting institutional business. Email is a powerful tool and should be used responsibly, consistent with law and with the mission and policies of the University.

Policy on Security Vulnerability Management

This policy outlines the activity of remediating/controlling security vulnerabilities: 1) identified by network, systems, and application scanning for known vulnerabilities, and 2) identified from vendors. Managing system vulnerabilities in a timely fashion is key to the protection and security of, and continued access to, University resources.
