Luke Moses, a student in NYU's Moving Image Archiving and Preservation (MIAP) MA Program, received a 2016 President's Service Award for his outstanding leadership in organizing and contributing to audiovisiual archiving events for the NYU and NYC community.
Luke Moses receives his President's Service Award from NYU President Andrew Hamilton in a ceremony held on April 14, 2016.
As President of the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) Student Chapter at NYU, Luke organized the annual Home Movie Day at Rutgers University this past fall. As part of the Fall 2015 Community Archiving class taught by MIAP Professor Mona Jimenez, Luke was in charge of creating presentations for and providing instruction to participants of the Community Archiving Workshop at the Downtown Community Television Center (DCTV). This past February, Luke collaborated with other MIAP students and alumni to lead the morning workshop for the Tisch 50th Anniversary event, Organizing/Filmmaking/Archiving: Films from the Third World Newsreel Archives. Not only has Luke volunteered his own time for these events and many more, including the Tenth Annual Orphans Film Symposium this spring, but as a leader among his cohort, he has encouraged other students to get involved in the community as well.
Luke is the 4th MIAP student or student-led group to win a President's Service Award, starting in 2013 when the AMIA Student Chapter at NYU was awarded this honor. Congratulations, Luke!
