At my internship at the Brooklyn Historical Society I was tasked with writing a draft proposal for the CLIR Recordings at Risk grant. I examined the materials in the The Ronald Shiffman collection on the Pratt Center for Community Development and argued for their scholarly importance. This task required me to utilize my knowledge of magnetic media and the risks obsolete medias face in 2019. I learned about the draft writing process, but also learned how to argue for the importance of a collection, whilst obsolescence prevented the materials from being viewed.
