Shahed Dowlatsahi, The New Museum, Fall 2017
To commemorate the museum’s 40th anniversary, the New Museum Archives has been working towards redesigning and relaunching their digital archive website. To ensure the accuracy of the information and the consistency of its presentation on this public-facing website, a labor-intensive and painstaking research and verification process was undertaken in the last few years. The majority of my time working at the archives was spent on the research, cataloging, and digitization necessary for the New Museum Digital Archive launch. The main objective of this research was to verify the accuracy of the information on the archive’s Collective Access database before it was made public on the website. I also worked on a digital video inventory and assessment project. This involved locating and consolidating in one directory on the server, the master and access video files created as part of the museum’s XFR STN exhibition and video digitization project that took place in 2013.
