At the Irish Film Archive, I got to work exclusively with celluloid film! I worked on condition reports for 35mm viewing and master prints, assisted my supervisor with a nitrate audit of the archive's off-site storage vaults, created filmographic and technical records for newly accessioned films, assisted in film restoration projects for Screen Ireland, and was given a very holistic look into the inner workings of a National film archive outside of the United States. Doing an international internship gave me insight into how other countries approach film and moving image preservation, and allowed me to meet other professionals in the field who were just as passionate about all things related to film archiving.
