New York Public Library, Media Preservation Labs
Interning at the Media Preservation Labs of the New York Public Library was a valuable opportunity for me to acquire practical experience in various aspects of audiovisual preservation. I was able to learn from and work alongside experts in the field, by participating in every phase of the workflow, from film inspection and scanning to cassette rehousing and digitization.

Throughout my time at the labs, I had the opportunity to work with a wide range of audiovisual materials and was able to gain hands-on experience with a variety of equipment, from vintage time base correctors to the LaserGraphics ScanStation, and the Keith Monks cleaning device. In addition, the internship gave me a deeper understanding of the role of digital preservation tools and their significance in ensuring consistent metadata collection and quality standards.
