Oscar Becher, NYPL, Spring 2022
At New York Public Library’s Media Preservation Services, students learn from leaders in the field of AV Preservation as a part of the institution’s push to preserve, digitize and provide access to hundreds of thousands of unique and at-risk materials. With the opportunity to work on media collections donated by major cultural figures such as Lou Reed and Harry Belafonte, the internship provides the unique opportunity for interns to handle nearly every major form of obsolete media. Throughout the intensive half-year duration, interns will leave with a proper grounding in the archival workflow of an institution that strives for providing public access to an ever-growing collection of materials.
