Oscar Becher, New York Public Library, Spring 2022
Over the course of the spring 2022 semester, I had the privilege of working with Roulette Intermedium's vast and storied collection of performance tapes dating from the late 1980s up to the present day. Continuing the work of previous MIAP interns, I set off digitizing and processing Roulette's collection of MiniDV tapes.

Given the intimacy of the organization and its collection, I had the opportunity to work with the material at each step of the digitization process. Monitoring the transfer of MiniDV tapes for quality assurance joined with command line post-processing to ensure that I had a hand in every step of transforming Roulette's collection into high-definition processed video ready for upload to their online video archive.

I also had the rare opportunity to work with Roulette's incredible collection of promotional paper materials, dating all the way back to Roulette's founding in the 1970s. As with the tape collection, I was made an integral part of Roulette's archival activities, allowing me to work intimately with handmade posters adorned with the names of legends of New York's experimental performance scene.
