M.A. Arts Politics Class of 2026

A.A. Miami Dade College
B.A. History Colorado College

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Lydia is heavily informed by her multicultural upbringing and Guyanese heritage. Through her experience working with museums in Miami and at the Fine Arts Center of Colorado Springs, she has developed a passion for blending curatorial work, art writing, and activism. Other fields of interest to her include archives, diaspora, politics, and community-building.

She has studied human rights and researched art history in various locations worldwide, including Guyana, Jordan, Nepal, and France, among others. To her, an important aspect of art and writing is their ability to create community and understanding cross-culturally— a vital aspect to social responsibility and justice. She incorporates this through her focus on Caribbean voices and is excited to expand on her research in NYU’s Arts Politics Master’s program. Lydia is dedicated to creating artistic spaces that are accessible and socio-politically impactful.
