Professor Karen Finley Receives the Rose Dorothea Award

Arts Professor Karen Finley received the Rose Dorothea Award from the Board of Trustees of the Provincetown Public Library on September 17. The Rose Dorothea Award is given annually to "a person with a strong connection to the Outer Cape who has made a significant contribution through the written word."

Professor Finley is the author of nine books, having recently published Shock Treatment (1990; reissued in 2015) and Grabbing Pussy (2020). Professor Finley generates work that strives to constantly push the boundaries of cultural production and explore what modern advocacy looks like - for example, Grabbing Pussy dissects the implications of former President Trump's presidency & legacy.

Provincetown Magazine features Professor Finley as a Provincetown Public Library awardee, receiving her perspectives on her "generative" work throughout the ongoing pandemic alongside the importance of fighting for women's rights, even when the current zeitgeist looks bleak. Read the article here.
