APP Professor Kathy Engel is participating in "On Call: June Jordan, Palestine, and the Black Radical Tradition at Stony Brook" is an upcoming symposium at Stony Brook University on November 7, 2025, that honors the legacy of poet and activist June Jordan. The event will explore how Jordan's work connects with modern struggles for justice, focusing on the solidarity between Black liberation and Palestinian freedom movements. It will feature a keynote by Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs, a "Kitchen Table Conversation" with scholars and activists, and various readings and discussions.
