Luis A. is an experimental and trans-anti-disciplinary artist whose body of work includes the creation of works with a great focus on movement practices. (His) research and process reflect (his) experience as part of the larger diaspora of Latinx brown queer immigrant artists. (His) continue exploration in the interaction between dance, design, new media, installations, sound, and the visual arts and looking into ideas of transformation, multiplicity, authorship and the role of the audience in dance performance, is reflected in (his) new solos, duets and group work. (He) has continued questioning preconceived ideas of choreography and modes of production and presentation. Besides choreographing and performing, (he) had also designed and created the costumes, set, props and the visuals for all the works. (He) has danced in the works of Jeremy Nelson, David Zambrano, Mark Tompkins, John Jasperse and in (his) choreography. (His) most recent solo works are presented as sound, visual, physical and reading performances that include projected images, spoken words, dancing, writing and singing. (His) work has been performed and presented in several countries around the world, from conventional venues to more unconventional spaces. (He) created 3RD CLASS CITIZEN in 2003, a collective initially comprising Latinx artists living in NYC, which has become a platform for the NOT FESTIVAL - a nomadic and kaleidoscopic conceptual artistic object, embracing ideas of cross-cultural and global artistic collaboration. Instalación Sur and Channel Sur are two of (his) several cross-cultural multi-disciplinary projects involving collaboration with local artists in seven countries in Central and South America. The latest outcome of (his) research in collaborative projects is the creation of the Institute of Global Longing (StillinProcess)
