Day of Community 2016

Throughout the wonderful history of the Tisch School of the Arts, a Day of Community has been held when there were important issues to discuss or reasons to gather in celebration. This year, Dean Allyson Green is proud to announce a Week of Community that expands from Oct. 17 to 21.

    Solution Machine is a massively-multiplayer real-world puzzle game about collective action and collaborative problem solving from the Game Center. Every Tisch student will receive a single puzzle piece and a link to a website with a series of problems to solve. To solve problems you must find other players and combine your pieces together into matching solutions.

  • Heidi Latsky: ON DISPLAY

    ON DISPLAY is a deconstructed art exhibit/fashion installation, a commentary on the body as spectacle and society's obsession with body image. ON DISPLAY is a structured improvisation movement piece designed to be performed by diverse people. Presented in an open and free space, the installation allows performers and the public alike to fully witness each other. This is a platform to experience and broadcast difference; to elevate and celebrate it within a clear context. The workshop is limited to 30 participants on a first come first served basis. No formal dance experience is required and widespread diversity is welcomed! Questions may be directed to tisch.research@nyu.edu

    In cooperation with the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Center for Art & Public Policy, the Tisch Institute of Performing Arts at NYU, the Institute on the Arts and Civic Dialogue at NYU, and Dr. Barbara Ann Teer’s National Black Theatre, NOW AFRICA – a group of New York based African writers, actors, producers and community activists – will present its second annual playwrights festival, conceived to showcase and raise awareness of dramatic works by African writers.
