Olivia Ancona
Olivia Ancona is an international dance artist, educator, and rehearsal director. Currently based in Berlin with her family, she is originally from the west coast of the United States. Olivia trained at the Juilliard school and upon leaving joined the Batsheva ensemble and later main company in Tel Aviv, under the direction of Ohad Naharin. She was a founding member of Sharon Eyal’s company L-E-V, and has worked with Mats Ek, Wim Vandekeybus, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Sasha Waltz, Oona Doherty, and Adam Linder among others. She was a guest with the Royal Swedish Ballet, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Goteborg Danskompani, and Staatsballet Berlin. Olivia was a performer and creative assistant for Alan Lucien Øyen’s dance theater hybrid, Winter Guests for several years. And has taught gaga, improvisation, and creative research/repertoire workshops for over forty institutions internationally. Olivia regularly stages the works of Sharon Eyal on companies throughout Europe and the US. Recently she has created structure to her passion for mentoring, offering dancers at varying stages strategic and empathic support as they navigate their creative careers.
