The Climate Opera Project

The four short operas of the Climate Opera Project were originally written in Spring 2020 as part of the AOP-NYU/Tisch Opera Lab, an ongoing collaboration between the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, the Department of Design for Stage and Film, and the professional opera company American Opera Projects (AOP).

The operas are written by then-student/now-alum composers and librettists from of GMTWP, designed by alums of Dept. of Design, and performed by professional opera singers and musicians from AOP.

The Lab is run by Dept. of Design faculty member Sam Helfrich (who will also direct this production) and GMTWP faculty member Randall Eng (who will also compose additional music for this production).
