Research at Tisch takes many forms - some traditional, some idiosyncratic, some still rendering. But all of it shares one basic characteristic: rigorous inquiry. Sometimes scholarly texts are an outcome of that inquiry, sometimes a new film or dance or multimedia installation. Or an archive. Or a new digital project. Or a new set of tools, or a new method of working within one or across several disciplines.
Sometimes research here is individual and sometimes it is deeply collaborative - and sometimes our definitions, and our praxis, of collaboration varies widely. Sometimes we go deep into our specific disciplines, but often we are crossing those boundaries to interrogate the existing and to create the never-before.
Like all researchers, artists ask questions, conduct inquiry and experiments, and share their findings.
