The OpenAir Collective is a global volunteer collective advancing Direct Air Carbon Capture (DACC) solutions to the climate crisis through collaborative research and development, advocacy, and demonstration-based missions.
The numbers are clear. Cutting greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) to zero is essential to surviving the climate crisis. But unfortunately, it’s no longer enough. Climate restoration—that is, bringing emissions down to pre-industrial levels—is now a crucial front in the fight. We recycle, we march, we donate, but we want to do something more, to play an active role in preserving our planet for ourselves, our children, and our children’s children.
Now we can.
The OpenAir Collective, through its varied missions to advance Direct Air Carbon Capture (DACC), is a chance to progress an industry critical to fighting off the worst effects of climate change. We’re taking our greenhouses gases back. But we can’t do it without you.
DACC uses a chemical reaction to remove CO2 from ambient air. The carbon removed by DACC can be safely and permanently mineralized in the earth and stored in everyday abundant materials, like concrete. Imagine a world where cities have the same carbon sink capabilities as wetlands—that’s a future that DACC can make a reality.
To push DACC forward, everyone is going to need to be involved. That means lawyers, designers, engineers, programmers, community organizers, makers, marketers, and everyone in between. We may sometimes feel helpless as individuals, but as a collective group of diverse, passionate professionals, we can advance this technology in ways that industry alone can’t.
