In June 2024, Ntshadi Mofokeng, a recent MA graduate of Tisch's Department of Art and Public policy, traveled to Dakar, Senegal to learn about developments in performance art and how the context in which work is presented interacts with the intentions of the artists at the 2024 Dak'art Biennale. While the biennial was postponed for political reasons, the independent arts community proceeded with its own programming across the city which allowed Ntshadi to engage with curators and interdisciplinary artists across a range of institutions. Ntshadi Mofokeng was a recipient of the CRS Research Travel Grant Initiative through which her travel and research was supported by Tisch's Center for Research & Study.
The Center for Research & Study Research Travel Travel Grant is designed to support eligible PhD candidates, graduate, and undergraduate senior students in good academic standing in the three CRS departments to partake in research that pertains to and enriches their area of study.
