Bryan Denton, a member of the DPI Class of 2005, was featured on the front page of the New York Times on Sunday, October 9. Bryan's images accompany a long-form article entitled "How U.S. Torture Left a Legacy of Damaged Minds."

Alongside text by Matt Apuzzo, Sheri Fink and James Risen, Denton's portraits of ex-detainees humanize the subjects and portray their continuing struggles to the reader.

Denton posted the following introduction on social media: "After months on the road, and one of the more difficult assignments I've ever worked on, our story on the lasting legacy of the US Torture Program, and it's effect on the minds of former detainees at Guantanamo Bay and CIA blacksites—many of whom were never charged with a crime—is finally out in this Sunday's The New York Times. Matt Apuzzo, Sheri Fink, and James Risen have done a spectacular job bringing these men's stories to life."

Bryan is no stranger to photographing international conflict. He has been working for the New York Times, among other leading publications, since soon after graduating from Tisch in 2005.
