PHANTASMAVERSE Co-curated by DPI Professor Snow Yunxue Fu & Carla Gannis

DPI students' work on display virtually

Exhibition Description: This Saturday, March 11th, from 12:00 - 1:00 PM EST, Phantasmaverse addresses the wide ranging potential artists have today to produce evocative and critically-aware artworks through the conceptual and technical implementation of simulation technologies. Each artist selected for this exhibition engages in storytelling and worldbuilding to reflect on how we can find meaning and maintain human presence in a highly technologized world. As terms like Web 3 and metaverse become ubiquitous, often to describe prosaic economic models, one role of the artist is to conjure illusion and figments of the imagination, phantasms, that give poetic expression to the digital paradigm shifts occurring throughout culture and society.

Artists: James Lee, Ren Ciarrocchi, Tinrey Wang, Marina Roos Guth, Shentong Yu, Jessica Dai, Yuanqing Xie , June Bee, and Jerry Zhao

Opening: The live online event will be held in the virtual rooftop gallery space of the Metaverse Home of Daughter ICE on Sansar - Running Water Floating Island, built by artist Snow Yunxue Fu and her avatar Daughter ICE. Carla Gannis’s avatar C.A.R.L.A. G.A.N. will be co-hosting.
