Tiri Kananuruk giving Live Performance Lecture at Singapore Art Museum

Tuesday, Mar 29, 2022

Open Arts professor Tiri Kananuruk will be giving a Live Performance Lecture titled Deep(Artist)Talking at Singapore Art Museum on Thursday, March 30th at 8 AM ET (8 PM SGT).

Deep(Artist)Talking explores the nature of deliberate mistakes in feedback systems to arrive at divergent solutions. In this live collaborative performance, a bot constantly listens, eavesdrops, and responds to humans, using imperfect machine learning techniques to reinterpret spoken words. Errors in the model help generate new and unpredictable narratives that loop back into its algorithms. Humans and machines will together create a broken conversation, a continuous poem flowing between the personal and the mechanical. Following the performance, Tiri will engage in conversation and Q&A moderated by SAM curators Chanon Kenji Praepipatmongkol and Syaheedah Iskandar. Deep(Artist)Talking asks: can we, humans and machines, learn and evolve from each other. The show was made in collaboration with Sebastian Morales (ITP '18, Creative Technologist, Producer) and Yuguang Zhang (ITP '20, Live Stream Coordinator).

This show will be online and open for the public to join. Registration for the even can be found here.
