ITP/IMA faculty member Gabriel Barcia-Colombo has been selected as a 2026 Onassis ONX Fellow. Hosted by Onassis ONX New York, the fellowship supports time-bound, research-focused engagement for artists exploring new mediums, providing studio access alongside dedicated technical and curatorial support.
During his fellowship, Barcia-Colombo will explore human reactions to a world increasingly driven by machine progress, expedience, and pseudoscience. Using video and algorithmically generated signage, his work navigates the threshold between warning and prophecy. Through this exploratory research, he aims to question our technological dependency and examine how algorithmic systems shape knowledge, prediction, and belief.
The fellowship prioritizes exploratory work and will culminate in a shared demo or project presentation with the ONX arts community.
