recho note

Recho Notebook, an ITP thesis project by Bairui Su (ITP '25), is a new open-source coding environment designed for algorithms and ASCII art. Developed in collaboration with Luyu Cheng from the HKUST TACO Lab, the platform uses a plain code format that displays output directly inside the code as comments, allowing for live feedback and interactive experimentation.

Built on vanilla JavaScript and the Observable Notebook Kit, the tool is designed for developers, artists, and students to explore reactive coding. The project will be featured at the CHI 2026 conference.

For more information and to try the environment, visit recho.dev/notebook or explore Bairui Su's work at bairui.dev.
