Sunday, Apr 11, 2021

Rootbeer Occasion, a Theatre Company LLC founded by Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program alums Brandy Hoang Collier & Jessie Field (both Cycle 29), streamed performances of original monologues written by other Program alums. Monologues by Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program alumnae Mindi Dickstein (Faculty & Cycle 5), Julianne Wick Davis (Faculty & Cycle 16), Sara Cooper (Faculty & Cycle 18), Gabrielle Mirabella, Samantha Rosenblatt, Jessie Field, and Brandy Hoang Collier (all Cycle 29) were streamed as a live event on Saturday, April 10th.

You talk to yourself when you're alone in the bathroom. It's okay, everyone does. In fact, we've been doing it so much over the past year, we decided to make an event out of it.

The bathroom monologues is a series of stories that all take place in what's usually the most private room in the house. Each of these solo pieces has been performed remotely (in the cast's very own bathrooms!) and filmed for us to broadcast— bringing those intimate, introspective stories out of isolation and into the world.
