Thesis Student Ben Kallam's film Red Folder is featured on Short of the Week.
Red Folder was Kallam's second year film about a high school student who is sent on a wild-goose chase to find his teacher's folder. The film addresses issues with the public school system, which Ben highlighted as: “the tendency to write off so-called ‘challenging’ students; the treatment of classwork as just a series of arbitrary tasks, the statistics revealing disciplinary inequity for students of color; the paralyzing focus on standardized test results above all else and the implicit – sometimes explicit – undervaluing of students with talents in particular subjects”.
