Dominica Eriksen was born and raised in the foothills of Northern California. She fell in love with photography in high school and became determined to pursue a career in the arts. She graduated from CSU Sacramento, earning B.A. degrees in Multimedia and Photography. After moving to New York, she worked in design and photo production before deciding to expand to filmmaking.

Upon entering NYU, Dominica settled her focus on cinematography. Her work as a director of photography has since screened internationally, including at festivals such as TIFF, Aspen, Clermont-Ferrand, and Palm Springs Short Film Festival. Based in New York City, she acted as writer, director, and cinematographer of her thesis film, completing her MFA in film at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
