Reopening

Reopening

Congrats to UGFTV Student David Huang, whose Documentary, Re-Opening, was acquired by the the Asian American Documentary Network. The short was started in Professor Alice Elliott's Documentary Workshop last Spring. A-DOC acquired it for their Asian-American Covid Stories series with funding from the MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, and the Center for Asian American Media. The Asian American Documentary Network premiered the films as a series at the Seattle Asian American Film Festival, and they are set to screen at the UCLA Asian American Film Festival and the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, among others.

David Huang, a UGFTV Junior, is a fiction and non-fiction filmmaker focusing on telling underrepresented stories of Asian Americans. He is currently working on another Chinatown-based non-fiction short film, and his thesis fiction short film, which was just accepted into the first round of Tisch's HEAR US  grant program funding BIPOC creators.
