We are delighted to announce that UGFTV Alum Max R. A. Fedore  has been awarded first place in the Alternative category for his film Opera of Cruelty.

Opera of Cruelty previously received a number of awards at the 2017 First Run Film Festival, including: King Award First Prize, Wasserman Directing Award; the Achievement in Experimental Award; and eight craft awards.

The Academy has voted 17 students as winners of the 44th Student Academy Awards® competition.  This year, the Student Academy Awards competition received a total of 1,587 entries from 267 domestic and 89 international colleges and universities – which were voted by a record number of Academy members. The 2017 winners join the ranks of such past Student Academy Award winners as Patricia Cardoso, Pete Docter, Cary Fukunaga, John Lasseter, Spike Lee, Trey Parker and Robert Zemeckis.
