Ryan Fleck

Ryan Fleck, in collaboration with his creative partner, Anna Boden, directed the indie darling Half Nelson. Half Nelson earned Ryan Gosling his first Oscar nomination for the role of Dan. Their follow-up film, Sugar, won Movie of the Year, 2010, from the AFI Awards.

In 2012, the duo began work on a gambling movie, Mississippi Grind. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where A24 Films and DirecTV Cinema acquired distribution rights.

They have collaborated on the small screen with The Big C, The Affair, Billions, Room 104, and Masters of the Air. They are known for their stories about complex characters in unusual situations. This sensibility brought them to their biggest film, Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson. Their most recent film, Freaky Tales, starred fellow NYU Tisch alum Pedro Pascal.
