External Transfer

If you are currently or have been previously enrolled as a degree-seeking student at a college or university and wish to attend NYU and Tisch Drama, you would apply as an External Transfer candidate. For more information, please visit here.

Please keep in mind that once enrolled at NYU, you can expect to take at least 64 additional credits to earn your BFA in Theatre degree. You will also be required to complete two-years of primary artistic training, as well as two additional semesters of advanced training, regardless of any prior artistic training or previously earned credits. After you're admitted to NYU, you will be given a preliminary range of how many previously-earned general education and elective credits you're likely to be awarded. For consideration of transfer credits from conservatory study, an official transcript is required. In addition, a thorough review of prior coursework, learning objectives/outcomes, the level of content/instruction of the courses, and grade earned must be evaluated by the Chair of the department of Drama.
