NYU Tisch Dance Professor, André Zachery, Presents, "Echo Making", A New Multimedia Installation

Monday, Nov 4, 2024

York College Arts Gallery presents "Echo Making" - a multimedia installation by Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary artist and Tisch Dance Assistant Arts Professor, André M. Zachery. André is the Artistic Director of Renegade Performance Group, a current resident in the 2024-25 CUNY Dance Initiative at York College.

"Echo Making" merges technology, movement, and visual art, reimagining African diaspora narratives and challenging traditional storytelling. Highlights include interactive projections, narrative installations, and digital canvases that immerse visitors in Zachery’s Afrofuturist vision, where he continues to reimagine the narratives of the African diaspora in movement, media, and creative use of public space.

This installation melds technology, dance, and visual art to construct a speculative future where cultural heritage, identity, and technology intersect, inviting audiences to envision new possibilities for existence and expression. Showcasing an interdisciplinary exploration of Afrofuturism through dance, media, and public space, the gallery installation will run concurrently and augment RPG’s 2024-2025 CUNY Dance Initiative Residency.

This installation runs from October 22nd - November 22nd, 2024 with an Artist Talk and Reception on November 13th from 5:00-8:00 PM.
