Miles Levy, National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC), Library of Congress, Summer 2018
My internship was evenly split within two departments. In Moving Image I spent 5 weeks in the nitrate vaults learning best practices for managing the vaults and the finer details related to film inspection. I also learned how to create a color tint report and how to enter reels of film into the Library's MAVIS catalog. In Recorded Sound, I spent 5 weeks with the Audio Lab learning best practices for digitizing analog media using Pyramix 11 and iZotope RX software. I learned how to create a QC report for a large scale digitization process and also how to clean and conserve fragile lacquer discs.
