Anne-Marie Desjardins, Cinémathèque Québécoise, Summer 2018, HFPA

Over the course of the summer, I worked full time as the Audiovisual Archives' Digital Management intern at the Cinémathèque Québécoise in Montreal. I was charged with building a plan for the digitization of the institution's video and film collections. This included strategizing on the four major stages of the project: analysis, pre-digitization, digitization and post-digitization, documenting the workflows of many pertinent jobs and adapting them to the project and highlighting certain problematics that were encountered along the way. All of this took shape in a substantive guide for future use. I also got a few weeks of training in disaster response, which will surely come to great use in the future. I was able to develop my professional skills during this internship, as I had to partake in numerous meetings and interview many employees about their jobs in order to adapt their workflows to my digitization plan. Spearheading this project, which oversaw the digitization process from start to finish, allowed for a great educational growth on a topic that is incredibly relevant to the field today.
