Juana Suárez, Anthology Film Archives, Summer 2012

My summer internship took place at Anthology Film Archives from June 1 to July 27, 2012, under the supervision of Erik Piil. Main tasks included working with Scan Tailor in the process of digitization of the iconic journal Film Culture. After previous instruction on the creation of individual digital files, we moved to the assembling of digital files of the journal issues, including OCR. I also worked on the identification of in-house born-digital audio from Anthology's screenings, and the completion of a database related to the cataloguing of the items. After preliminary inspection of some of the materials, I worked in creating Collective Access records for video materials. Finally, I was also introduced to the basics of quality-controlled digital transfers of moving image content, using Anthology’s custom digitization suite “Form Phases I.”
