Andreas Wilson, Gartenberg Media Enterprises, Spring 2018
Gartenberg Media Enterprises is a unique company whose work involves the excavation, licensing, distribution and programming of moving image, photographic and print media. The company focuses primarily on the restoration and distribution of avant-garde and classic work, as well as ethnographic and genre film. My internship was a good survey of these different aspects of the field. While at GME I assisted with the cataloguing, inspection and rehousing of a collection of nitrate film. I also worked in the GME offices assisting with financial grids, and promotional material. During the course of this internship I got to experience both hands on archival practice as well as the business world of film distribution.
