Hannah Franklin, The Frick Collection and Frick Art Reference Library Archives, Spring 2016
As an audiovisual intern at The Frick Collection and Frick Art Reference Library Archives, I worked primarily with the Lecture Recording Series dating from 1959 to 2012. My responsibilities included creating a technical inventory of the 245 1/2 inch open reel tapes to be sent to a vendor for digitization. While inspecting these reels, I discovered 22 tapes with visible, friable mold. I wrote a brief mold report so the department could determine how to move forward with those tapes. I also began editing and ingesting the 177 MiniDVs from 2008 to 2012 in Final Cut Pro. I also prepared tapes for shipment to the vendor, George Blood, L.P. The main skills strengthened during this internship were media identification and an understanding of vendor relations.
