Richard Rusincovitch, NYU Libraries, Barbara Goldsmith Preservation and Conservation Department, Fall 2024

During the Fall of 2024, I interned at the Barbara Goldsmith Preservation and Conservation Department at New York University’s Bobst Library. While there, I worked on film inspections for a variety of library collections, containing home movies, medical films and more, as well as worked on an inventory of film and full coat mag elements associated with a documentary. I was trained on the department’s film scanner and afterwards I was able to scan many of the films I inspected over the course of the semester. Additionally, the team and I began the initial test-case work that could hopefully soon lead to new workflows for re-synchronization of digitized film and audio elements in film collections in the NYU Library system.
