Katie Zwick, IndieCollect, Spring 2022

For my first internship at MIAP, I was placed at IndieCollect, a film restoration/preservation house which specializes in preserving American independent film. I completed a curation project which saw me putting together a programming grid of the restorations they have done for female filmmakers, assisted with the preparation of grant-related documents, completed internal organizational tasks (such as writing film element inventory reports and updating their catalog of restorations), and assisted with scanning photos and personal correspondence from the estate of Melvin Van Peebles, some of which will be placed in cultural institutions like the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture.
