M.A. Arts Politics Class of 2023

B.A. French Studies, University of Miami

Arthur Stockham is of Louisiana French-Creole heritage and his hometown is in Queens, New York. Due to growing up in a vibrant, culturally diverse place such as New York, Arthur’s artistic interests range from urban squares, visual art museums, and opera houses. He spent his final semester of his undergrad studying abroad in Paris where he undertook diverse artistic scholarship.

What drew you to the M.A. in Arts Politics:

Politics is everything, and everything is politics. Not a single thing in the world is unaffected by it, and it’s not a secret to most people how significant politics are in everyday life. What seems to be a secret to many is that art is also everywhere, and like politics, art affects your life in obvious and subtle ways, whether or not you are conscious of it. The relationship between art and politics is surprisingly quite thin. I was drawn to this program because I was excited to learn just how much more intimate the relationship between politics and art truly is.
