Mekhala is a 24 year old artist, actor and musician from Mumbai, India. Over the past one year, they have been freelancing as a digital illustrator, as well as working with a young, arts-focused start-up based out of Mumbai. With a background in Sociology and theatre, they intend to work at the crossroads of art and culture, and to be able to contribute to society in an informed, authentic and meaningful manner. They aim to approach art and performance through an intersectional lens, and combine it with theory in a way that incorporates intention, compassion and real, lived experiences.

What drew you to the M.A. in Arts Politics?

The M.A. in Arts Politics is a unique program which presents students like me who have a passion for art and also a background in research with specific challenges and opportunities to grow and do important work. I have always been a performer and an artist, and this program allows me to incorporate my academic experience into my creative work.
