MA Arts Politics Class of 2016
BFA Illustration, Parsons the New School for Design, 2014
I am a visual artist and scholar of aesthetic politics, decolonial theory, and the history & philosophy of science. Currently I work as a scientific illustrator and communicator and as primary scientific illustrator for the Explorer’s Guide to Biology. My ongoing work is focused on parameters of biological transformation, and the relationship between fictional organisms and organism extinctions.
What drew you to the M.A. in Arts Politics?
It was its proposition to interrogate personal and interpersonal artistic practice in relation to the generalized term "politics."
How did your experience in the program shape your work? Is there a particular moment or project that you can remember as having an impact? Please describe.
Within the careful frame of this program I was able to de-differentiate knowledges, experiences, opinions, endeavors, and identities and blend them. I was able to focus the vertex of my work and name what it was that I wanted to do and more importantly name the responsibilities required by this pursuit.
What are some of the challenges and/or rewards of this program?
Time is always challenging.
