Ngoc-Tran Vu

Ngoc-Tran Vu identifies as a 1.5-generation Vietnamese American transnational and multimedia artist, organizer, and healer. She was born in Sài Gòn, Việt Nam and raised in the Dorchester and South Boston, both working-class neighborhoods of Massachusetts. Tran currently works as the Deputy Director, Programs and Creative with AIR (Association of Independents in Public Radio). In addition, she teaches and facilitates workshops on the arts, storytelling, digital activism, healing etc. She works across borders and is based in Boston. www.ngoctranvu.com 

What drew you to the MA Arts Politics program?

I realized that my path is in the arts and social justice so it felt right to join MA Arts Politics program and community to gain more skills and networks especially in the backdrop of New York City. In addition, I am very supportive of the program's mission and vision in supporting its students and helping folks to cultivate a deeper analysis of the arts in social change.

How do you describe or identify your practice/ work?

I identify as a multimedia artist whose work is based in social justice, community, and healing.

How did your experience in the program shape your work?

My experience in the program help expanded my views on the possibility of the arts and collaborations. I really appreciated all my teachers and classmates for they contributed to my understanding of what it means to be an artist and maker. 

What are you doing now?

I am a multimedia artist and also the Program Director at AIR (Association of Independents in Radio).
