Art and Public Policy faculty and department chair, Pato Hebert took part in a discussion about the role of visual art in medical humanities research and teaching on March 6 at Rice University's Medical Humanities Research Institute. He was joined by Amanda Caleb and Megan Voeller with Travis Alexander as the moderator.

Following the panel discussion, attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in an art exhibition showcasing a selection of Hebert’s recent works. These pieces delve into the complexities of health and medicine, inviting viewers to contemplate the human experience through a unique artistic lens. They will be on view in the gallery until May.

Pato is an accomplished visual artist, educator and organizer, who brings a wealth of experience to the discussion. As chair of the Department of Art and Public Policy at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, his work has been recognized for its profound impact on exploring themes of health and medicine through art.
