2022 APP Alumni Ying Qi will exhibit work in her new exhibition “wǒmen in war(s)” at All Street NYC Gallery, on view from June 28th through July 3rd, 2022. The opening reception will take place on June 28th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm ET.

Curator’s Statement by Eden Chinn

"adaqiying’s wǒmen in war(s) speaks to community struggles and the ways in which connection might help us find relief.

The artwork comes at a historically significant moment, as women in the United States find that their right to choose has been rescinded and their bodies are the site of social and political warfare. The theme of the exhibition connects challenges experienced both domestically and abroad; the artist highlights the many wars we experience both within and around us every day, with a special emphasis on women’s resilience."

The installation was first displayed at New York University’s Kimmel Windows as part of an exhibition in conjunction with Karen Finley's Arts Politics Class Art in and Public Sphere, titled Morphology, which explored the relationship between the body, politics, and the public sphere.

For its second iteration, the artwork will be exhibited at All Street NYC, a gallery for emerging and underrepresented artists on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, located at 77 East 3rd Street, New York, NY 10003, with support from TONG Global.

The artwork will include largescale portraits of the artist suspended from the ceiling, sculpturally cascading through the gallery, as well as graffiti painting, and a 20-minute original video montage.
