This panel aims to explore how arts, cultural and creative work can serve as a catalyst for community organizing and activism in light of the many devastating events that have impacted communities across the U.S. in 2020.
We will ask the questions: what is cultural organizing, how can we work at the intersection of art and activism to empower communities, and what should (or can) we do now?
This event will feature the following panelists:
Stephen Duncombe, Professor of Media and Culture, NYU
Kathy Engel, Associate Arts Professor, NYU Tisch Department of Art and Public Policy
Sherylynn Sealy (MPA ’17), Program Manager, Grantmakers in the Arts
